Never Forget

This post is dedicated to my best friend, who I recently lost to cancer. Her biggest fear was that we would forget her, and I always told her that would never happen.

It's funny how much can change in a year. A year ago today, we planned 3 birthday surprises for you. We all put in effort to make sure you had the best birthday ever and know that we are all here for you. We wanted to shed some light & happiness in your darkest days.

And we did. I cannot forget how happy you were on this day. You were so stunned with the amount of love and support you got. I cannot forget what you told me and the promises I made. I'm just glad that we were able to make your last birthday, the best possible one.

These cupcakes were my gift to you last year since I knew how much you loved them. It was my first time venturing into cake decoration, and today I've come so far. I wish you were here to share my successes. But thank you for always pushing me.

Happy 23rd Birthday Farzhy, love always

Turning 22

Hey guys! Sorry been MIA for the past 2 weeks plus, it's funny how every time I planned to update my blog, something just has to come up! Finally found a window to do so!

So as the title says, I'm officially 22 years old! I'm not so sure if I should be happy or sad about that, I've always taken pride in being the 'young one' among my circle of friends, not so young anymore now. This year's birthday celebration was definitely much better than the last. For those of you who don't know me, I actually spent my 21st birthday, admitted in the hospital with dengue, something I never thought in a million years would happen!

The night before, I was treated with a birthday surprise dinner at Stratosphere, Troika Sky Dining in KL! We had the famous KL Tower as our view! It was an Italian place, and while I've been to many Italian restaurants, I've never been to a semi-fine dining one, so I couldn't understand all the Italian words on the menu! We picked up on a few English words and tried to make out what is what. Thankfully, our order was great! Then for dessert, I got a little surprise, which turned out to be absolutely delicious!

Since we were in the heart of KL city, we went to KLCC Park and walked around for a bit, just taking in the quiet, beautiful atmosphere. It started to rain, so we headed back. The night was pretty much perfect, couldn't have felt luckier ;)

On the next morning, my actual birthday, I went to work as per usual. I was running late, when my colleagues texted me saying there's a power outage in our building, so they're all just hanging out at Old Town White Coffee downstairs. When I reached, they saw me coming down from the escalator. For some odd reason, I could see they were like frantically trying to do something on the table and rushing each other. When I reached the table, did I know why! They had planned a surprise for me!

Anyone who knows me, knows I love baking and eating cupcakes. My colleagues had gotten me some red velvet cupcakes from one of the famous cupcake chain stores. They had put on candles and were trying their best to light them before I approached the table, but unfortunately for them, they were sitting right under the fan, so the candles keep blowing out! When they managed to get at least 1 lighted, I just said it was okay and let's just make do with that XD

And of course, they had to sing. Even though I said please don't. I really don't know what are you suppose to do when people are singing 'Happy Birthday' to you! It's like super awkward, and my colleague managed to capture my awkward expressions.

All in all, it was a pretty great birthday! One of my best friends, Lizzie, was having her finals during my birthday, so we only went out to celebrate a couple of days back. Out of our circle, she's the only one still here, the rest are studying overseas. But, that did not stop them from making my day with sweet birthday messages and a card, plus awesome birthday gifts!

I feel really blessed to have all these amazing people in my life. Yes, things could be better with other aspects of my life, but I'm choosing to focus on the best parts, and the people that bring out the best in me.

So thank you, each and every one of you, for taking the time and effort, no matter how small or big, to have made my 22nd birthday special!

Till next post then, ciao!

Halloween!

Hey guys! Welcome to my new blog! For those of you who have been previously been following this blog, I actually took down the previous one and used the same link back for a fresh start! It's been waaaay too long since I updated the old one. And recently, I started to miss blogging. Well actually I miss writing, so I decided to get a fresh start!

So, as you all should know (and if you didn't please climb out of the rock you're living under), today is Halloween! Granted, Malaysians don't exactly celebrate Halloween by going trick-o-treating and what not, but in the recent years, this day seems to be gaining popularity! I've never actually put on a costume or celebrated Halloween in any way, as my final exams throughout high school, college & university would all fall around this time.

However, this year, for the first time, no exams are in my way! Just FYI for those who don't know, I've recently graduated from Monash University and I'm now currently working for a company that practices the American start-up culture. Co-operate style is sooooo NOT my thing! Anyway, for Halloween, we were given tickets to attend Sunway Lagoon's Night of Fright! And of course, everyone had to wear a costume!

The costume part was a little tricky. We had to make sure we wore something that could give us freedom to move around comfortably in a theme park! In the end, I decided to go with little red riding hood! Bonus part was I have a husky, which well, looks like a wolf, so a photo-op was definitely in the books!

Sunway Lagoon's Night of Fright was actually quite fun. The last maze we went into was super duper scary, there was a part where the only thing we could see was the person in front of us due to all the smoke in the tunnel (we all held a rope that made sure we don't lose our way from the group)! And of course, weird creatures would suddenly just pop up in front of you and scare the living hell out of you. It was night time of course, so most of the photos didn't turn out well, but here's one group shot:

The fun didn't stop after we left the theme park. The most unbelievable thing happened when we wanted to drive back, I'm still in shock that it even happened! So I had driven there with another friend, and after paying our car park ticket at the auto-pay machine, we went to my car. I went into the back seat first to change into my flats (can't drive with heels!). When I got out, I closed the door, BUT, the door just bounced back! I was like, eh? I tried again, same thing happened! Then, we started checking to see if anything was stuck at the frame, but there was nothing! We had less than 15 minutes to get out of the car park before our ticket becomes invalid, so I had my friend sit at the back, and hold the door close as tightly as she could while I drove back!

I drove as slowly as I could, but every time we were turning at a corner or going over a bump, the door would still open a little and my friend would freak out! The best part was we were both so in shock we just kept on laughing the entire way back. Thank God my house is less than 10 minutes away!

All in all it was an eventful night, definitely one to remember! Well, till my next post then, ciao!
